My Table Train SetBack in and around 1990, Donna and I went to a local hobby show. There was many neat and exciting things we saw that day but something caught my eye. I pulled Donna close and said "I want one, some day I'll be able to build my own." Well 10 years later I have started to build my own N Scale coffee table. I figure it'll take me a few years to put it all together and I will continue to post pictures so you can follow along in its progression.

Open top <enlarge pic> The lid is propped up. It is secured with a piano hinge for quick access in case of a derailment. The glass also comes out easily for easy long period access. |

Command drawer <enlarge pic> The control drawer is on two rolling drawer sliders. The cab control layout can be seen in a previous picture. Ideally this will be revamped when I can find a very inexpensive dual controller. |
Corner construction <enlarge pic> The corners are 2x2", notched out. I used a pin and locking system to hold the sides on. The idea was that It could be disassembled if required. |
Underneath construction <enlarge pic> The train base itself only rests on metal supports attached to the table. The whole base, with drawer attached can be lifted from the table sides. I love the way the tape and wires hang down. :) |
